Benefits of night time Casein

Consuming 40 grams of a casein protein before going to sleep seems to increase strength and muscle mass when doing resistance training.

A study by Jorn Trommelen and Luc J. C. van Loon, found that consuming 20 to 25 grams of protein before sleep had no increase in muscle protein synthesis rates. During the day 20 to 25 grams of protein is enough to effectively stimulate MPS (Muscle protein synthesis) but, during the overnight sleep Muscle protein synthesis rates are low. Which could mean higher protein consumption is needed during the overnight sleep.
